Coping with Grief and Loss in The Next Normal
May 28 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Join GW4W for a in-depth discussion on grief and loss with experts Dr. Dale Atkins, Nancy Board, MSW and Lynette Davis.
Grief and loss is a difficult topic. It’s become even more challenging during the current pandemic. We collectively miss some of the freedoms we had. Some of us have lost family members and friends and have not been able to have the rituals around the loss of our loved ones. Others feel they cannot freely discuss losses or acknowledge that they are mourning in order to appear strong. There is mourning for loss of income, a job, and life events like graduation and wedding celebrations.
By taking a more authentic and compassionate approach to mourning and loss, each of us has the opportunity to create better mental health and wellbeing around this sometimes taboo topic. Leaders and managers can also benefit by understanding some of the risks and health issues related to loss that may impact their team as companies are looking to move forward into the next normal.
The combined knowledge and experience of our speakers includes how to address trauma and loss, suicide prevention, mental health and wellbeing related to gender and diversity differences. You’ll learn about evidence-based strategies that integrate understanding the stressors that can lead to mental health and wellbeing issues related to mourning and loss, why it is a key issue that needs to be meaningfully addressed, and actionable steps for a more compassionate and healing approach.
