Session Description: An uneven playing field is often the norm for women at work, even for highly educated, professional women in medicine. The equity gaps are often unclear and they may be hidden by unrecognized bias. This experiential session will help attendees understand specific equity gaps that have been identified through compelling research. The program will explore cultural norms that may be barriers to achieving gender equity; and it will highlight how seemingly unrelated issues that contribute to gender inequity are actually integrated. The discussion will also examine key challenges around gender, diversity and ageism. With better information and achievable action steps, all organizations can progress more effectively toward true gender equity.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participants will be able to understand gender gaps and related biases identified by research
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to describe how to strategically evaluate gender gap issues
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to identify key action steps to better support gender equity
