Advocate and Activate – A Call to Action for EA Professionals – Why Gender Equity Matters, St. Louis, MO
September 26 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
International EAPA Conference, Hilton, Union Station
Women make up half of the global workforce and 70% of the global health workforce but occupy less than 25% of leadership roles. According to the World Health Organization, the current gender gaps in leadership are predominantly a result of power imbalances, gender stereotyping, discrimination and structures that create pathways for one gender in power to excel.
A 2016 Columbia University study found that women who made significantly less than their male counterparts were 4x more likely to suffer from anxiety and 2.4x more likely to suffer from depression. These findings held true even at high income levels (i.e. for executives).
We need more effective strategies for the individuals and organizations we serve, looking more holistically at causes and interventions. This can lead to better mental health and wellbeing for working women at all levels.
Come to this interactive session where we will tackle tough issues around the gender gap, present case studies for further exploration and problem solving, and develop insights and actions steps you can take back to your clinical practice. We invite you to come ready to address the question: What will it take to create a more gender-balanced workplace?
